Filmanthropic is a documentary initiative by STL.org that brings to life the powerful stories of nonprofit organizations, transforming their missions into cinematic films that inspire connection, giving, and action.
One Story Can Change Everything
At STL.org, we believe storytelling creates momentum. It turns quiet missions into movements and good intentions into lasting impact. That’s why we created Filmanthropic, a documentary initiative that brings to life powerful nonprofit stories that might otherwise go unseen.
Feature-length documentaries can serve as larger-than-life awareness tools that can move hearts, shape culture, and drive extraordinary impact for the causes shaping our world.
Our partners are already doing incredible work. We simply help them share it in a way that reaches further, lasts longer, and inspires deeper action. Through beautiful, cinematic storytelling, we connect people to missions worth protecting, communities worth strengthening, and ideas worth believing in.
When these stories are shared, they become fuel that builds awareness, rallies support, and amplifies the good that is already being done.
How It Works
1. Identify the Mission.
We seek out organizations doing meaningful work in the world. Through honest conversations and deep listening, we uncover the heart of their mission, their current needs, and the story that deserves to be told.
2. Capture the Story.
In collaboration with St. Louis filmmakers, we produce feature-length documentaries that bring these missions to life and awaken empathy, urgency, and hope.
3. Amplify the Impact.
Each film becomes an awareness and fundraising engine, shared across communities, donor events, and digital platforms to rally support and strengthen the cause.
Current Projects
In Production: The Trail State (Working Title)
A Filmanthropic Documentary in Partnership with Magnificent Missouri
Stretching 240 miles across the heart of Missouri, the Katy Trail is more than a path. It is a living corridor of history, community, and conservation.
Missouri has become a beacon for how trails are so much more than recreation. They are powerful tools to uplift communities, spark economic growth, create a sense of belonging, and strengthen our connection to the land.
The Trail State explores the trail’s remarkable impact on the people and places it touches and the movement it has inspired across the state, including the Rock Island Trail, which will one day connect to the Katy to form a 457-mile loop across Missouri, and the Brickline Greenway, which is transforming how St. Louis connects its neighborhoods through shared public spaces.
Projects like The Trail State represent what Filmanthropic stands for: the power of vision, persistence, and storytelling to spark lasting change.
